Duo Isold

Duo Isold was founded in the summer of 2006 by the Icelandic cellist Gudny Jonasdottir and the German pianist Elisabeth Streichert.  Their ensemble has been very active in numerous master classes and performing concerts in the UK, Germany, Switzerland and Iceland. The Duo first met while both were studying in Lübeck, Germany. They then continued their studies at the Royal Academy of Music where they graduated in 2013. With their varied interest in multiple genres of classical music they have developed a substantial body of repertoire performing well known classical works as well as contemporary music by working closely with composers of their generation. Duo Isold commissioned and premiered Sonata No. 1 “ILLUSIONS” by Carter Callison in Reykjavík, Iceland.  Other highlights of their career have been performances in venues such as St Martin in the Fields, Wigmore Hall and Sigurjón Ólafsson Museum, Reykjavik.
