Concertos in Miniature

During the 19th century, it was quite common to transcribe or reduce orchestral works for amateur and domestic use. This was also done for several piano concertos in the repertoire. Starting with Mozart, who made his own transcriptions of his piano concertos, this tradition continued over centuries. In my project Concertos in Miniature, I am going to collaborate with smaller ensembles in order to play in alternative venues and present the audience with a more intimate sound world. Composers will transcribe select concertos for smaller ensemble or rearrange already existing transcriptions. Collaborations will include the Phacelia Ensemble (www.phacelia-ensemble.com) and composers such as Carter Callison (www.cartercallison.com) and Cecilia Bignall.
